Sharing our amazing learning in Prep!

A message from Mrs Sperring…

To all of the parents of children in FD6,

Thank you so much for my amazing surprise this morning! I was overwhelmed. I love the beautiful rose and will think of your children every time it blooms. And thank you so much for the incredibly generous gift vouchers. I feel very spoilt and will buy special things to remember you by.

I love their self portraits put together so beautifully in the frame – thank you again. They will find a special place to be displayed in my home.

Thank you so much for the privilege of teaching your children this year. Their first year at school is so important and I hope they will go on to bigger and better things in the years ahead. We’ve had lots of fun together & they are full of personality and the joy of life. They’ve all come such a long way! I’ll look forward to seeing you all next year when I’m doing CRT work.

Thanks again, Heather

Final few days…

  • Monday 19th December:

We will begin the day with our regular Monday morning assembly. Foundation students completed their culminating task for our ‘Sustainability’ unit last week. I wonder what these old bottle tops could become? Want to know more? Find out at assembly!

Also, as you probably already know, our lovely Mrs Sperring is retiring. We couldn’t finish the year without celebrating the wonderful teacher that she is. We have something special planned for Mrs Sperring at assembly on Monday – come along, spread the word! 🙂

  • Tuesday 20th December:

Our final day for 2016 will also begin with a special assembly. There will be some special presentations made, along with performances of our Grade 6’s graduation dances, which are always a highlight. We welcome you to come along for this too!                                                                                         School will finish at 1:30pm.

***Note: Green folders have been passed on to the Level 1 teachers for next year. If your child’s folder is still at home, could you please return it to school on Monday.

Thank you everyone, for a fabulous year. We have been blessed to teach your special little people and have enjoyed sharing the wonderful beginnings of their school life with you all.

Merry Christmas! We look forward to seeing you in 2017!

Story sharing

We got to hear some terrific stories, written and published by our Grade 4 students this week. They are getting ready to be big Grade 5 buddies next year for our new Foundation students. We think they will be awesome!

End of year fun!

We had a wonderful day yesterday – celebrating the fast approaching end to our Foundation year with a walk to Montrose Playground and a party lunch.

Sorry for the lack of photos at the park…we were having too much fun! 🙂

Walk to Montrose Playground

We are looking forward to our walk to Montrose Playground this Wednesday 14th December. We will be leaving school at 10:30am and heading back to school at 12:15pm.

We will be requiring some parents with a Working with Children Check to join us for our walk to the park. If you are able to join us, please let your child’s teacher know.

On returning to school, we will be continuing the festivities with our party lunch, followed by our Kris Kringle.

Thank you for your support! 🙂

Also, due to variations in our specialist timetable for this week, we will not be requiring parent helpers this week. We thank you for your wonderful support and know that your children have loved having your help too!

Swimming Lessons – Last day

As part of your child’s YMCA Swimming Lessons program, students are required to practice simulated open water and water safety activities. Part of these activities involves a swimming in clothes assessment. This is completed during a Pyjama Day.

Students are required to swim in their pyjamas. (Long sleeved top and pants are preferred. No onesies)

Please ensure your child comes to swimming with their bathers on and their pyjamas in a plastic bag ready for the activity tomorrow. The plastic bag is needed to take their wet pyjamas home again.

Thank you also to all of our parent helpers over the past two weeks. The children have absolutely loved swimming lessons!

Community Carols Evening

Monday 5th December is our Christmas Carols evening, starting at 6:30pm on the school oval. Bring a picnic and enjoy the festive atmosphere!

Foundation students will be singing ‘Mele Kalikimaka’, a Hawaiian Christmas song that they have been practising with Mrs West in Muticultural Music. We would love to see students dressed in Hawaiian theme – think tropical, Hawaiian shirts, flowers, lei, grass skirts…and/or a touch of Christmas too!

They will also be singing ‘Santa Wear Your Shorts’ keeping with the ‘beachy’ theme!

Swimming Lessons

Swimming starts this Wednesday!

Just a reminder that all students need to come to school wearing their bathers under their school uniform with a separate bag containing thongs, towel, goggles, underwear. Thongs can be left at school for the next couple of weeks as we will put them on each day before leaving for swimming to save time with shoes and socks at the pool.

A roster has been sent home to parents who offered to help at the pool or come on the bus with us. FD3/FD5 are still requiring a parent bus helper for Tuesday 6th December. If you think you might be able to come along and have a Working With Children Check, please let Miss King or Miss Walker know. Have a good week! 🙂

Lillydale Lake

Great day at Lillydale Lake on Friday, exploring our local environment. We used our senses to think of ways we can look after the plants and animals that live around the lake and had fun doing our scavenger hunt along the way!

We could almost see our school from up here!
